My May 2013 Glossybox and June Glossybox Spoilers

This is my second Glossybox and I am feeling pretty Glossy-blah about it. I don’t really care for any of the items that came in this box but I will probably still give each of them a try.

Here is what I got:

I guess I’m kind of excited to try this since I do get a little shiny from time to time…

It’s a mask, yipee…

The scent I got smells alright, it’s not my favorite but it isn’t gross.

This would be exciting if it matched my skin tone…

I’ll use this, I am always looking for new volumizing hair products. Still not that exciting…

I am not a fan of waxing and I think that’s what these are meant to help with. I might use them… might not… I will probably give the waxing coupon to my sister because she gets her eyebrows done. Mine are nicely shaped and I only need to tweeze a few hairs here and there so I don’t think a wax would really be worth it for me.

Well, this was not the greatest Glossybox. I think I might try one more month because I really like the spoilers I have seen for the June box.

According to Dujour “The June box will include one of six nail colors from Bondi New York, a Tarte Complexion Enhancing lipstick and a sample from Oscar de la Renta’s Essential Luxuries fragrance collection—along with a few surprise products that haven’t yet been announced. Each product is manufactured in the United States, fitting with the “American Beauty” theme of the June box.”

Spring Fever VoxBox from Influenster

I just received my first ever VoxBox from Influenster. I was so stoked that I qualified for this box! Influenster is a free-to-join online community where you can participate in “tasks” and give opinions of products and experiences. More info here. The best part of it all is that I got all of these products FREE to try and review.

So, what’s in the box?

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure:

I can’t wait to try these! I’ve been curious about how well they work. I’ll probably wait (13 days) until school is out for Summer because I don’t think these would last very long while I’m teaching Kindergarten! I will definitely do a post about these soon!

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure

Such a cute print!

NYC New York Color Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm:

This smells pretty good but I didn’t really care for the color that it left on my lips. It is a little too red for me. I might like it better in another color.

I love lip products!

I love lip products!

Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Dust It Mattifying Powder:

I am super excited to try this. I have only tried one other hair powder and it actually gave my hair some volume. I will probably do a post about this in the near future.

Excited to try this!

Excited to try this!

Secret Outlast Clear Gel Antiperspirant/Deodorant:

I’ve used this deodorant before and it works pretty well but I am not really a fan of gel deodorants.

I love the fresh scent!

Tastykake Smore’s Kandy Bar Kake:

This was delicious! See my post here.

More to come on these great products!

Tuesday Treat: Tastykake® Kandy Bar Kakes

After much anticipation I finally received my Spring Fever VoxBox from Influenster. The first thing I tried in the box was the Smore’s Tastykake and it was delicious! The cake was very moist and it tasted just like a s’more without the crunch of the graham cracker. The cake had 230 calories so I wouldn’t eat these everyday but it was definitely very tasty and worth the calories. I shared a bite with my boyfriend and he liked it too. I would really like to try more flavors of these yummy cakes.

Price: Single Serve – $1.69 Family Pack – $4.49

About Tastykake from the Influenster Website:

Next, I have the Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in Pink Escape. I have been really into cheek products lately and this looked unique and unlike anything I have in my collection so I had to try it. I really like the color and my first impression is that I am going to love it. I tried it out and it looks very natural on my cheeks. I plan to do a review on some of my non-powder blushes soon and I will definitely include this one.

What have you ordered lately? I’d love to see your latest beauty haul (link below). Have you used any of these products?

Mani Monday: Julep Annie and Jane

I used a 50% off coupon to order these from the Julep website a few weeks ago. Annie is from the Trina Turk Fall ’12 collection and it is described as an electric blue topaz crème. This polish has the best formula of all of the Julep polishes that I have used so far. It was easy to apply and I probably could have gotten away with just one coat but I ended up using two. Jane is a full-coverage rose gold multi-dimensional glitter. It was a little chunky but in my experience most glitters are. My boyfriend doesn’t like the combination of these two colors but I think it is fun and I really wanted to try both of them.

Review: Texturizing Hair Sprays

I have two hair products to review today. Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist  from Alterna and Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray from Not Your Mother’s. If there is one thing that I truly suck at, it is doing my hair. … Continue reading

Thank you Stalking Beauty for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award!

I’ve only been blogging for a few months and it has been a really great experience for me. My life has changed a lot in the past few years and I was starting to realize that I didn’t have a hobby or anything that was “me” anymore. Creating this blog has been a lot of fun and it is becoming a great hobby for me. I enjoy reading all of the lovely blogs that I come across and sharing my ideas with all of you.

  • Share 7 random facts about yourself
  • Thank the blogger who has nominated you
  • Add the Versatile Award picture to your post

Here are my nominees:

Enough is Enough

I have been all over the place this week! I’m surprised that I can even think straight as I type this. I’ve been so busy with work and trying to maintain my sanity with everything that is going on. No one warned me about how chaotic the end of the school year is for a teacher. I guess I blocked last year from my memory because I don’t remember being this stressed! There are so many things to keep track of and I have lost track of what is actually important in my personal life.  One of those things being my finances. I went on a major online ordering spree over the past few days and it has got to stop! I realized today that I have nine packages on their way to me right now. Nine!

So what am I going to do about it? I’m giving myself a budget and I’m sticking to it this time! Starting in June I will allow myself $75 per month of “fun money” for subscription boxes, beauty items, things I need, or anything that makes me happy. I think this is a fair amount and I should be able to stick with it. I’ve been using mint.com for years and I love how easy it is to create a budget and track progress over time so that is what I’ll be using to keep myself in check.

Maybe I'll actually start to fill this thing up!

Maybe I’ll actually start to fill this thing up!

What do you think? Have you given yourself a beauty budget? Does your spending go out of control when you’re feeling stressed?

Wish me luck!

xoxo 🙂
