DIY: Sugar Lip Scrub

I got an amazing sugar smooch lip scrub with my May Julep Maven collection and I have been using it very sparingly because I love it so much. When I saw this DIY: Lush Lip Scrub post on Pretty Little Beauty Blog I knew that I had to make my own version! You can check  out the recipe on her blog by clicking on the link above. I made a few modifications based on what I had on hand.

  • I used grape seed oil because it is supposed to be tasteless. I also read somewhere that it has moisture retentive properties.
  • I ordered marshmallow and bubble gum flavorings from Amazon because I didn’t like the selection at my local grocery store.
  • I also used part brown sugar and part white sugar because I felt like the brown sugar was more “scrubby”.
  • I did not add food coloring.

I think it turned out awesome! I really like the bubble gum flavor and my lips feel super soft after using it! I got some of the bubblegum flavoring on my hand and now the bubble gum scent won’t go away… oh well…

The marshmallow flavor was much more subtle but I still like it!
